Artist's Comments
"Before the Earth was fully formed a hole was dug deep deep under the surface and a large cavern was carved out of the rock with a slab laid in the center. A body was laid there, it's wings drawn close and bound with a cord. The arms were folded across the chest in the fashion that would later be commonly applied to mummies in Egypt when the world was still young. Then a seal was placed over the hole and it was covered over and long forgotten. Some time later, when the rebel angel, Lucifer, the Morning Star, was cast from Heaven, he returned to the place where his first crime had been perpetrated and he built his kingdom on that foundation. No man, angel, demon, or Divine Power ever knew of the lost angel's whereabouts. And over time, even his very name was forgotten."
________________________________________ ___________ I posted the little intro story first. Here... [link] This is Logos. This painting has been in my head for a very long time. It didn't come out exactly as I imagined, but it's close at least, and I'm pleased with how it came out. I spent more time on this than I think I ever have on any previous painting. If I really wanted to, I could probably go on and on adding more details. But I think its done... for now. I took some artistic liberties with my own character. I didn't show his wings in this painting. Partly this was because I didn't think I could paint his wings the way I imagine them in my head. But also, I think it would actually have been too distracting in this image. Also, I have no legitimate reason for the bloody symbol carved into his chest. I just thought it looked dramatic. That's his name, written in angelic script. Sources: Logos's face: male fashion model, Jean Kuller Figure: ~Essence-stock Sky: ~grace-stock _______________________________________ I authorize |
